Maine South, Cronnolly beat buzzer, hand New Trier second-consecutive loss

PARK RIDGE – Maine South needed this one.

After dropping games to Glenbrook South and Evanston and tying Niles West last week to start Central Suburban League South Division play, the Hawks needed to get back in the win column. They started the year 5-0-1 in nonconference action.

But to do that, they’d have to go through Chicagoland Soccer’s top-ranked team, New Trier, which was coming off its first loss of the year Monday night, a 1-0 decision to third-ranked Warren.

Cronnolly’s hat-trick propels Maine South past Maine East

PARK RIDGE – Maine South did something in the first week of the season against Maine East that it did only three times last season: score four or more goals in a single game.

Unlike the 2019 season when it took the Hawks to their 10th game to accomplish the feat, they were able to do it in their second game, when they took down their crosstown rivals 4-1 at home March 11.
