WINNETKA — The most recent years of North Shore Country Day girls soccer top the program’s history. There is no doubt back-to-back state runnerup finishes in 2018 and 2019, the best for either soccer program at the school, have put the Raiders on the girls soccer map in Illinois.

A good number of the core players of those teams graduated in 2020, but luckily for the Raiders (5-1-1, 4-1-0) a handful of seniors with multiple years of varsity experience returned for the 2021 season: Zinzi Steele, Jane Scullion, Natalie Duquette and Eun Hae Lillig.

North Shore Country Day takes time, stops Latin with late goal

By Michael Wojtychiw

WINNETKA – For most teams in this girls soccer season, the pitch has been a place they’ve competed against other schools for more than three weeks now. That was not the case for North Shore Country Day.

The new-look Raiders debuted their season with a match against conference rival Latin more than 700 days since they last played in the state championship game at North Central College on May 25, 2019.

There’s nothing like the bond that siblings share. No matter the age or gender, having that extra someone in your familial life can make one’s life even more special.

That bond is being shown on the basketball court at North Shore Country Day’s Mac Gymnasium this winter, as Loyola Academy graduate Meghan McKeown joined coach Bruce Blair’s staff to coach the Raiders girls basketball squad, which happens to include her sister Ally. Continue reading

Segal joins elite company in NSCD basketball history

Caroline Segal has been playing basketball for as long as she can remember.

After growing up having played in the Glencoe Park District, the New Trier Feeder Program and the All-In Athletics travel basketball program, the Glencoe resident headed to play at North Shore Country Day School for her four years of high school basketball.

While her senior year isn’t over yet, Segal will leave the school as one of the best players to ever play in the Raiders’ girls basketball program, especially after becoming only the second player in program history to score 1,000 points Dec. 17, 2019, in a 38-12 win over Parker in Winnetka. Mickeeya (Murray) Harrison, North Shore Class of 2002 is the only other girls basketball player to accomplish the feat. Continue reading
