Young sets tone, bests GBS in home-opener

CHICAGO – In recent weeks, it seems as if Young has become a second half team, one that likes to come from behind in big games after giving up the first goal. That’s what happened in a win over Jones and a tie with Lane the previous two Wednesdays.

But It wasn’t the case when Glenbrook South traveled south from Glenview to take on the Dolphins at the new Michelle Obama Athletic Complex right across the street from Young.

Young’s home debut ended up a positive one; it came away with a 3-1 win over the Titans May 8.

Young overcomes early deficit, tops Jones

CHICAGO – Young came into its key conference matchup against Jones with one decisively large advantage: numbers of games played and days on the pitch.

The Dolphins already had five games under their belt, including matchups against ranked Loyola, Warren and St. Ignatius. Jones, on the other hand, played its first match of the season after a team shutdown due to coronavirus protocols.

Loyola tops Young in long-awaited return to pitch

GLENVIEW — Six hundred and ninety eight days.

That’s how long it had been since Loyola had taken to the pitch. That changed Thursday evening, however, when the Ramblers welcomed Young to their Munz Campus in Glenview April 15.

“It’s unbelievable, such a great feeling to be back on the field,” Loyola’s Kendall Beil said. “Playing for your school, playing for your teammates, there was undoubtedly great energy. You could feel it in the crowd and everybody on the bench.”
