Lake Park late goal ​stops Glenbard North, skid

CAROL STREAM – The streak is over.

Both Glenbard North and Lake Park came into Saturday, May1’s, game looking for their first win on the year. Each team was also looking for another set of firsts as well: the Lancers aimed for their first overall win since April 23, 2019 (the 2020 season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic); while the Panthers were trying for their first win in a conference game since May 1, 2018. The DuKane Conference, of which they are now members, didn’t exist then. The teams then played in the DuPage Valley Conference.

Young overcomes early deficit, tops Jones

CHICAGO – Young came into its key conference matchup against Jones with one decisively large advantage: numbers of games played and days on the pitch.

The Dolphins already had five games under their belt, including matchups against ranked Loyola, Warren and St. Ignatius. Jones, on the other hand, played its first match of the season after a team shutdown due to coronavirus protocols.

NORTHFIELD – What do you get when you match up two teams with campuses located a mere 0.7 miles away from each other and feature multiple players who have played on the same club teams for years?

You get a tough, physical matchup that had double-digit fouls en route to a hard-earned 1-1 result between New Trier and Loyola, that’s what.
