- Cincinnati held NC State to only -26 rushing yards Thursday night. The -26 rush yards are the fewest rush yards in a game by an ACC over the last 10 seasons.
- Georgia Tech was held to a field goal in its first drive vs North Carolina. This is the first time this season that the Yellow Jackets didn’t score a TD on their opening drive. The 4-0 start is their first since 1990, when they shared the national championship with Colorado.
- Denard Robinson had 200 yards rushing, moving past Illinois’ Juice Williams and into 2nd place on the all-time rushing list by a QB among Big Ten teams.
- Syracuse becomes the first FBS team since UNLV in 2008 to have 2 overtime wins by the end of September.
- It’s been a long time since Temple had a big win like the one over Maryland. The last time Temple beat a BCS-AQ team by at least 31 points was in 2000 when they beat Rutgers 48-14. However, both schools were members of the Big East at the time. The Owls last win against a BCS-AQ team in non-conference play by at least 31 points was October 5, 1934, a 40-6 win against Texas A&M. Entering Saturday, Temple was 0-12 all-time vs ACC schools. The last seven losses have been since 2004, with each of them being by at least 3 touchdowns.
- Mohamed Sanu of Rutgers had 16 receptions in the Scarlet Knights’ 38-26 win over Ohio, establishing both a Big East Conference and school record for receptions in a game. Sanu has 36 receptions for 363 yards and 4 touchdowns this season through three games. In 12 games last season, Sanu totaled 44 receptions for 418 yards and 2 touchdowns.
- The TCU Horned Frogs won their 22nd straight home game, third-longest active streak in FBS.
- Air Force piled up a school record 792 yards of offense, a Mountain West Conference record. 595 of those yards were on the ground in their defeat of Tennessee State.
- East Carolina survived a school-record seven turnovers in their 28-23 win over UAB.
- After their loss to Ohio State, Colorado (1-3) has not won a road game since Oct. 27, 2007, at Texas Tech.
- Florida State has now lost five straight at Clemson.
- Brandon Weeden threw for 438 yards on Saturday. That’s the most passing yards in a single game in Oklahoma State history. Weeden had set the record last year, when he threw for 435 yards against Baylor on November 6, 2010.
- Oklahoma State is 4-0 for the 2nd straight season. The last time they did that was 1987-88.
- Alabama has now won its last 20 SEC openers, although some of those wins have been vacated. That’s the longest streak in the FBS, and just 2 other schools even have double digit win streaks in conference openers, Virginia Tech and Boise State. Florida has the next-longest win streak in SEC openers at 7 games.
- Alabama had 10 tackles for loss, two interceptions, six pass breakups and four quarterback hurries.
- The Illini are 4-0 for the first time since 1951.
- Quarterback Chandler Harnish broke a 48-year-old school touchdown record as Northern Illinois snapped a two-game losing streak with a 47-30 victory over Cal Poly on Saturday. Harnish’s two passing touchdowns and two more rushing gave him 67 for his career, besting the old mark of 66 set by George Bork between 1960-63.
- San Jose State ended a 13-game losing streak dating to last season, beating New Mexico State 34-24 Saturday. Brandon Rutley became the first Spartan to rush for over 200 yards in seven years as he rushed for 209.
- Florida Atlantic scored its first touchdown of the season in it’s 30-14 loss at Auburn.
- UTEP fell to 4-48 all-time against ranked opponents, including 1-31 on the road. They’ve lost 26 straight away from home against Top 25 teams since upsetting Arizona State in 1974. The Miners also fell to 0-21 against BCS conference members.
- Florida won its 25th consecutive game against Kentucky.
- With a touchdown reception in the 1st quarter against Rice, Kendall Wright is now Baylor’s all-time leader with 20 receiving touchdowns.
- Robert Griffin III has more touchdowns (13) than incompletions (12) this season.
- Last time that Oklahoma gave up 14+ points in the first quarter was October 27, 2008 vs Kansas State. Oklahoma led Kansas State 28-14 after the first quarter. The last time Oklahoma allowed 14 points in the first quarter and was trailing was January 1, 2007 against Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. The were trailing 14-7 and lost 43-42 in OT.
- Missouri (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) became the first team since 2007 to hold a lead on the Sooners’ home field but couldn’t sustain a strong start and lost 38-28 on Saturday night. Only Texas Tech in 2006 had held a larger lead at Oklahoma during its best-in-the-nation home winning streak, and Baylor had been the only opponent to hold a lead in Norman since Mizzou led by one in the fourth quarter in its last visit in 2007.
- Case Keenum threw for 415 yards and two touchdowns in just two and a half quarters of play, and Houston recorded its first shutout since 1999 in a 56-0 rout of Georgia State on Saturday. Keenum, who was 29 for 34 through the air, passed former BYU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer for third on the NCAA all-time passing yardage list, and passed former Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell for third on the NCAA career total offense list.
- Brian Davis set two Sun Belt Conference kicking records Saturday with six field goals and 23 points, leading Arkansas State past Central Arkansas 53-24. He was one field goal shy of tying the NCAA record.
- Saturday marked Arizona State’s first win in its last 11 tries against perennial Pac-12 power USC. They hadn’t beaten the Trojans since 1999.
- LaMichael James had his 5th career 200-yard game on the ground, running for a career-high and school record 288 yards at Arizona. 2 of those 5 200-yard games have come in the last 2 weeks. In those games, he’s run for 492 yards and 5 touchdowns.
- Arizona, playing its third consecutive top-10 team, has lost eight of nine dating to last year. The lone victory was this season’s opener against Northern Arizona.
- Bryant Moniz set a Hawaii record and tied an NCAA record by throwing seven touchdown passes in the first half as the Warriors routed UC Davis 56-14 on Saturday night. Moniz led the Warriors to a 49-0 lead before sitting out the second half. He finished 30 of 40 for 424 yards, a school record for yards passing in a half, and added five carries for 50 yards.
