Pritzker caps off perfect season
Quarterback Jay Rivera threw two touchdowns and ran for another as Pritzker capped an undefeated season by defeating Rowe-Clark 46-0 in an Inter-City 3 contest Wednesday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
“Being undefeated feels really good,” Rivera said. “I’ve never done it before, so it’s pretty cool and it makes it better since we all know the guys (on the other team) and talk on the field. It feels really good.”
The Jaguars used their ground game to overpower Rowe-Clark, rolling up 220 rushing yards led by Abdullah Alghazali (11 carries, 85 yards).
Rivera (4 of 9, 50 yards, two touchdowns) did all of his damage in the second half, connecting on a 17-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Murphy and a 23-yard scoring strike to Charles Brantley in the third quarter. He also scored on a 25-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter.
Pritzker (9-0, 7-0) used its defense and special teams to aid them as well. The defense held the Masai Lions (4-5, 3-4) to negative 13 yards for the game and forced three fumbles, one of which was returned for a touchdown. The Jaguars blocked a punt that they brought back for a touchdown as well.
